DALLAS -- Steve Nash, fresh from his torch-carrying role at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, won the 2010 Taco Bell Skills Challenge as part of the Saturday night festivities at NBA All-Star Weekend.
Nash was the oldest of the four point guards who competed, but he still was the fastest, beating Utah's Deron Wiliams in the finals.
The Skills Challenge is a timed competition involving a variety of point guard skills that include dribbling, passing and shooting. The other competitors were Russell Westbrook, who replaced the injured Derrick Rose, and Brandon Jennings.
"These young guys are tough, but I got my second wind,'' Nash said. "Then I took it easy on them.''
Although Williams had a better time in the semi-final round, Nash came through in the finals, winning by a comfortable eight seconds.
Nash, who played earlier in his career in Dallas, will be the starting point guard Sunday for the Western Conference.
