Should the Cavaliers deal for the dynamic Amar'e Stoudemire, the underrated Antawn Jamison, or stand pat with the team they had?
Tonight, we have an answer. Michael Lee of The Washington Post first reported that Jamison was headed to Cleveland. Then Adrian Wojnarowski blew the whole thing wide open: "Cleveland, Washington and the Clippers have completed a three-team trade, sources tell Y! Sports ... Cavs get Jamison and Telfair, Clippers get Drew Gooden and Wash gets Illgauskas, Al Thornton and Brian Skinner and Cavs 1st round pick."
This coming on the heels of Drew Gooden's statement earlier today that: "We'll see what happens. I'm a Washington Wizard, but we'll see what happens."
Chances are that Ilgauskas will end up waived and back with the Cavs, which means Cleveland will have given up a first-rounder and gotten Jamison (and Sebastian Telfair!) back in return. That the 33 year-old forward is under contract through 2011-12 is a concern, but acquiring Stoudemire would have brought with it the expectation of an extension. They also managed to keep J.J. Hickson, which is a major plus for the franchise's future.
Other notable fact about this trade: The Clippers now have the cap space to throw around max money this summer. Who knows what that means.
