Despite apologizing and retracting his Twitter comments, Barako Bull center Don Allado has been fined P500,000 and suspended for one conference by the PBA.

Of the fine, P300,000 will go to the PBA Players Educational Trust Fund, while the rest of the amount will be given to a charitable institution of Allado’s choice. The 13-year veteran will also be banned from all PBA-related activities in next season’s Philippine Cup.

On Thursday, Allado met with PBA commissioner Chito Salud and took back his comments.

“The PBA is my home, I would never do anything to harm its name and integrity,” he said. “There’s no game-fixing in the PBA, there never was. I’m sorry for what happened, I hope the fans could forgive me and put it behind.”

Allado created controversy on Twitter shortly after his team’s loss 99-93 to the Powerade Tigers in a knockout match on Tuesday night.

“PBA games are fixed. They control who is in & who is out. It’s a disgrace to be in this league,” wrote Allado.

The P500,000 fine is the biggest amount meted for an individual player in league history. The PBA said the fine was “final and unappealable”.

off topic: napansin ko lang for the past years...may mga games sa playoffs na umaabot talaga ng game 7 or game 5 and yung scores, talagang tambakan kung tambakan..minsan parang "SCRIPTED na"...wala lang...

the fact that he's still in the league, I see at the 500k fine is good and the 1 conference ban as absurd.

anyways, what is the more deep word for detrimental? because thats what allado did by saying those words!

Sa tingin ko itong malaking parusa na ito ay panakot lang ng PBA sa iba pang gusto rin gawin sa future, etong ginawa ni Allado.


Basahin nyu yung top comment sa facebook line. Na-isip ko rin yan. Diba noon sinabi rin ng isang official ng TnT na "may dayaan" sa PBa, pero bakit sila walang ganitong katindi at kaingay na parusa?

For me a 500Thousand fine is fair enough.

Why, that amount is consists of 2 or 3 months of his Salary which is fair enough for such an offense he committed. Eto lang kung i-fine mo yan ng 10Thou to 50 Thou. Tatawanan nya lang yan. Para lang sya bumili ng latest gadget. Tama lang na pag na fine ka eh yung masakit talaga sa bulsa mo para maramdaman mo na nagkasala ka. Yun lang eh opinyon ko.

A conference ban is nothing, kung tutuusin dun sa nasabi nya na degrading words accusing the league of game fixing and controlling who's in or out is enough for the board members to impose a lifetime ban on him.

If I were Allado, dont pay the fine, play for ABL instead. Tutal ilang years na ba sya sa PBA, eh ilang taon na lang naman ang itatagal nya sana. Eh di ituloy nya na lang sa ABL where baka kumita pa sya mas malaki.

pero kapaki-pakinabang nman ung babayaran nya.. 300K sa trust fund ng PBA at ung 200K ei for any charity of his choice.. ang mabigat nga lang - 1 conference na walang sweldo dahil suspended..

yes, pero based sa sanction ng commissioner, suspended without pay!

wala ata, kung suspended siya, deducted na yun sa salary...
