Streaking Ateneo turned to Rabeh Al-Hussaini's clutch shooting to nip University of the East at the start of the UAAP best-of-three title series, 78-71, and move a win away from winning back-to-back titles.
Al-Hussaini muscled his way to 28 big points, including six in the crucial stretch of the payoff period that gave the Blue Eagles a 75-68 cushion entering the final 1:02.
The 6-foot-6 Al-Hussani added 14 rebounds and two assists for Ateneo, which will gun for the crown on Sunday in Game 2.
